Electile Dysfunction

Already since February 2007, the German Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) reviews the issue of voting computers. It was a long, drawn out battle on that one, mostly outside the courtroom. On March, 3rd the court will finally decide whether Nedap voting computers are still allowed to be used in Germany.

Some background on the Nedap lawsuit is here. Some weeks ago even former strong proponents of voting computers had to admit: Voting on Nedap computers is so vulnerable to fraud that in Hesse's January 2009 election the electronic voting equipment was barred, no clearance for usage. Yay!

I guess, I won't change my mind whatever the court decides: Every voter should be able to understand what's going on in the polling stations. Period.
